PE, WHAM, Sporting Competitions and Sport Premium Grant 

At Whiston Junior and Infant School we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

We have welcomed the Government’s announcement in June 2013 to provide additional funding until 2022 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. We are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all our young people.

Meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety: Previous academic year 2023 - 24 (September)

What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a  distance of at least 25 metres?

N.B. Even though your pupils may swim in another year please report on their attainment on leaving primary school at the end of the summer term .

Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming  but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements.

No (2 pupils who did not achieve national curriculum awards were offered the option but both refused their place.)

N.B. Complete this section to your best ability. For example you might have practised safe self-rescue techniques on dry land which you can then transfer to the pool when school swimming restarts.

Due to exceptional circumstances priority should be given to ensuring that pupils can perform safe self rescue even if they do not fully meet the first two requirements of the NC programme of study
